Is psilocybin safe?

Yes. It has been used by ancient peoples around the world for many thousands of years. You’ve probably heard of “bad trips.” That happens when too high a dosage is taken in an unsafe environment. We are licensed by the State of Oregon, and we provide a safe product with known dosage and a safe setting. At Ashland Healing Center, you will work with a facilitator who will help you prepare and relax. Check out the State of Oregon Quick Findings report in our blog for more information on the experience in Oregon.

What if I’m seeing a doctor for a mental or medical condition?

This is ok. There are only three areas Oregon Health Authority considers red flags. They are:

  1. If you’re taking the prescription drug lithium,
  2. If you’ve diagnosed as psychotic, or
  3. If you’ve having thoughts of harming yourself or others.

Of course we always suggest you discuss your plans with your medical or mental health professional – we will work with them on your care.

Do I need a prescription for psilocybin?

No prescription is needed.

Is it effective?

Yes. We encourage you to read about the studies at universities and research institutions such as John Hopkins, UC Davis, Yale, and NYU that have demonstrated the effectiveness of psilocybin-assisted therapy.

Do I have to live in Oregon to receive this service?

You do not need to live in Oregon, but you will need to travel here for 2-4 days to consume the mushrooms. All other work can be done remotely by phone or zoom.

Can I take psilocybin if I’m on anti-depressants or other medications?

Yes, you do not need to stop your medications.

Does insurance cover psilocybin?

It does not.

Can I buy the product to take home?

No, we are not a dispensary.

Is this for one person, or will I be in a group?

We are currently working with individuals only. Your program will be customized to your specific needs by a trained licensed facilitator who will work with you.

Do you have a waitlist?

We do not. We are accepting clients now. We provide services 7 days a week (this may help with your travel plans). We are accessible from the Medford International Airport (code MFR).

Where are you located?

We are in Ashland in the beautiful Rogue Valley of Southern Oregon, which is surrounded by three mountain ranges. This is the home of the Oregon Shakespearean Festival, theater, arts, music and several wineries. Mount Ashland and Crater Lake are nearby. Oregon Pacific coasts are 2-3 hours away. You may wish to combine your psilocybin experience with a vacation.

What doses do you offer?

The Oregon Health Authority limits the dosage to 50 mg. We will find the appropriate dosage for you.

Do you have testimonials from clients?

Yes, you can find testimonials on our Sessions page.

What if I’m seeing a therapist or psychologist?

We work with health care professionals. Their support after your experience is very important for Integrating this into your life.

Why should I choose your facility?

We are woman and minority owned and welcome all persons. Our facilitators work together as a team, sharing and learning from each other to provide the best experience for you. This is not common with other centers who only rent rooms to facilitators.

How do I choose a facilitator?

This relationship is very important. All facilitators are trained and licensed. We will be glad to recommend a facilitator for you, or you can choose yourself. Because our service is all about you, you may choose a different facilitator at any time during the program.

You do not need to do either, but we suggest that you discuss your plans with your health care professionals. We are glad to receive calls from them if they have questions.
